Meet Mikael Englund, one of Adcredo's stars and COO!


Mikael, can you tell us about yourself?


First and foremost, I am a father of two children. Lykke who is 3 years old and Waldemar who is 6 years old and married to Josefin. I live in Danderyd outside Stockholm. I am also a big fan of all kinds of sports. My unsuccessful journey towards becoming a hockey professional resulted in me ending up in the media and Ad-tech industry.


Can you tell us about your background and how you became COO at Adcredo?


After realizing hockey wasn't a lifelong profession, I shifted to media and joined Sweden's top publicist, Aftonbladet, as a Key Account Manager in advertising sales. In 2011, I co-founded Widespace, which became Europe's leading mobile ad company and Deloitte's fastest-growing Ad-tech firm in 2014. Then, I served as Commercial Director for Unruly and started Cavai in Sweden.


My involvement with Adcredo began in 2020, when Glim and Martin presented their idea to simplify complex digital marketing. I saw the potential immediately. We soon realized that developing the platform would take time to meet advertisers' and agencies' needs, so we focused on platform development.


As we gained customers and received positive feedback from major players, we were able to invest further at the end of 2022, to become the leading digital marketing platform.



What was your motivation to start Adcredo?


For a long time, agencies and advertisers have faced difficulties scaling their marketing due to silos and separate teams. Currently, they still use various platforms for buying, optimizing, and analyzing marketing efforts, making it inefficient and unscalable. With the increasing number of platforms where consumers spend their time, it's crucial to automate processes so marketers can effectively reach their target audience.


Our goal is to eliminate excessive administrative tasks and make digital marketing management more enjoyable and straightforward.


Can you describe Adcredo's mission and values?


Adcredo's vision is to simplify digital marketing. With Adcredo's platform, we want to make it easier for smaller companies to create profitable digital marketing faster and easier, and for larger companies we want to help them scale and streamline today's very inefficient processes.


What do you believe is the biggest problem in digital marketing today?


Today, the challenge for agencies and advertisers is the existing silos they work in. Rapid advancements in technology pose a challenge in adapting work processes. People often focus on addressing immediate problems, like multi-channel advertising reporting, instead of considering the bigger picture and the chance to transform their approach.


This is why niche expertise agencies quickly gain traction in digital marketing, as they aren't limited by outdated processes.


Can you discuss Adcredo's plans for growth and expansion in the near future?


Our aim has always been to become a tech company, focusing on a long-term roadmap. From the start, we've strived to create the most user-friendly platform to make digital marketing manageable and enjoyable. We've grown with our customers and sought their feedback, addressing current challenges and aligning our platform with future digital marketing developments.


We already serve Sweden's largest agencies and advertisers and consider the Nordics as our home market. However, our platform has global potential as we see similar customer challenges in other markets.


What advice would you give to companies who are looking to expand their marketing?


Small businesses today have easier access to marketing solutions. Most have a CRM system and operate digitally, equipped with tools for growth.


However, to grow, it's important to analyze opportunities and invest in producing valuable content. Then, use scalable tools to effectively disseminate the content.


What do you see as the future of the multimedia marketing space and how does Adcredo plan to be a part of it?


The future of marketing will rely on scalable systems that prioritize ease of use. This will allow agencies and advertisers to focus on strategy and creativity while minimizing administrative tasks.


Adcredo will continue to simplify digital marketing, enabling our customers to achieve profitable growth and improve employee satisfaction.


What’s something interesting, funny, or unique about you that your colleagues should know?


I have the world's best orientation skills. Once I've visited a city, I can always navigate it upon my return. I could have been an exceptional taxi driver.
